Numerous studies have noticed a direct association between rheumatoid arthritis (RA) disease activity and leptin concentrations.
The number of studies found a relationship between leptin concentrations and disease activity in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) with controversial results. Therefore in this research, Batún-Garrido JAJ et al showed that there was increased in the serum leptin level in patients with active RA.
Numerous studies have noticed a direct association between rheumatoid arthritis (RA) disease activity and leptin concentrations.
A total of 77 RA patients involved in the analysis. Enzyme immunoassay and DAS-28 CRP were used to measure leptin levels and disease activity, respectively. The association between the disease activity along with other variables and leptin concentration was evaluated using a multivariate logistic regression model.
A total of 40.3% patients found to be in remission, 6.5% were severely active, 11.7% were moderately active, and 41.6% were mildly active. An independent relationship was found between higher leptin concentrations and disease activity, the presence of metabolic syndrome, the number of swollen joints, and the number of painful joints.
As per the findings, RA patients exhibits increased levels of serum leptin.
