What's new?

With the recent advances in Russia, a tremendous rise of approximately 13.5 thousand potential bone marrow donors has been observed in the year 2018.

In 2018, a rise of 13.5 thousand potential donors was noticed in the national registry of bone marrow donors which could attract Rusfond charity. The replenishment of the list was done at the outlay of several regions.

With 2,434 donors, Tatarstan lead in hiring volunteers, followed by Moscow with 1990 donors and Perm region with 808 volunteers. The work of RusFund Laboratory was conducted in Kazan, where HLA typing is performed.

As per the coordinator of the donor actions of the National RCMM, not every person donates their piece of bone marrow in the first asking. Secondly, active local residents played an important role in attracting donors. Several letters were reached to Rusfond with requests to arrange donor campaigns. Although, donor activity relied on the regions; in 26 regions of Russia, no more than three donors visited in a year.

Researchers focus on an essential area to work with, and that is regional blood transfusion stations (SEC). The aim of RusFund is now to attain 25 thousand potential donors a year and extend its geography.
